Feifel Broadbent Gualazzi is a local firm of lawyers and personal injury experts who possess small-town values. The firm has grown from a small operation to one of the largest personal injury law firms in Northern Ontario with a dedicated staff of 30. Today our partners’ focus is solely on the practice of personal injury, including auto accidents, no-fault accident benefits, slip and falls, dog bites, product liability and all other types of personal injuries. We are well known and respected in the local community and beyond.
Feifel Broadbent Gualazzi is an assertive team with extensive experience in personal injury and trial work, who will work tirelessly for you, NOT for the insurance companies. Our focus is on early resolution and settlement; however, if the insurance company is being unreasonable, our trial lawyers will proceed to trial. Our trial lawyers have had extensive experience conducting numerous jury trials and have each been instrumental in winning landmark precedent-setting decisions advancing the rights of innocent accident victims.
We proudly adhere to our ongoing mission to bring excellent local service and are committed to provide all of the legal services you may need while maintaining a close relationship with each and every client. We are local people, offering local service and working with local health care professionals. As our mission statement says, we are LOCAL LAWYERS FIGHTING FOR YOU!

Peter A. Feifel, LL.B., was admitted to the Law Society of Upper Canada after graduating from the University of Ottawa Law School in 1981 with an LL.B. He was called to the bar in 1983. He has appeared at all levels of Court in Ontario including the Ontario Court of Appeal.
Professional memberships include Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, The Advocates’ Society, Algoma District Law Association, Law Society of Upper Canada, and the Canadian Federation of Independent Business.
Jeff was called to the bar in 1994 after graduating from Queen's University law school. His practice focuses on all non-MVA and other litigation matters. Appearing at all levels of court in Ontario with success for his clients, up to and including the Court of Appeal for Ontario with Ryan v Sault Ste. Marie and Christensen v Family Counselling Centre, Jeff has a number of reported precedents to his credit. In addition, Jeff teaches upper-year law courses as an adjunct professor at Algoma University.
Committed, capable and compassionate, Jeff's client-centered approach is rooted in strong family values and social responsibility, nurtured by his parents and other family members, who were leading social justice advocates. As a child, in addition to other family members, inspiring Jeff as an advocate were his paternal grandmother Mary Broadbent, his father Dave Broadbent and uncle Ed Broadbent, all of whom worked to advocate for those who too often could not speak for themselves. Mary was involved as a volunteer in early advocacy and support work against violence against women and children and other similar interests. Dave was a union activist and founding member of the Canadian Auto Workers, and Ed was a member of Parliament and federal party leader.
Family continues today to shape Jeff's practice with the loving support and partnership of his wife Franca and their children Dylan, Carly, Nicholas and Emma.
Living in Sault Ste. Marie since 1994, Jeff is very much at home here, being involved in a number of community organizations, contributing and volunteering with many, including the Soup Kitchen Community Centre with his family, and coaching his daughter's hockey team. As a pilot, he is able to pursue litigation matters in all corners of the province, with Sault Ste. Marie very much as his home base.
Family and community are important to Jeff, and he understands the devastating impact an injury can have on individuals and their families. He also understands the vulnerability of injured persons and their families. In their most difficult time of need, they are too often confronted by less-than-sympathetic insurance companies with virtually unlimited resources, used not to compensate the injured so much as to maximize profits. As a strong advocate for the vulnerable, Jeff and his team will advance your case with determination, dedication and dignity, ensuring all is done to try to overcome the terrible damages suffered in an injurious occurrence.
Brian Gualazzi, B. Comm, LL.B., graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Commerce in 1983 before attending Dalhousie Law School, where he graduated in 1988. After articling at the law firm of Caputo, Sarlo, Irwin, he was called to the bar in 1990. Brian was hired by the Ministry of the Attorney General, where he worked as an Assistant Crown Attorney for 16 years from 1990 until 2006 when he joined the firm. He has appeared at all levels of Court in Ontario, where he tried hundreds of cases including very complex jury trials.
Prior to embarking on his legal career, Brian enjoyed a very successful hockey career as he starred with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario League. While playing for the Soo Greyhounds, Brian had many accomplishments, one of which was leading the OHL in scoring with 75 goals in the 1978/1979 season. He went on to play with the Dalhousie Tigers of the Canadian University Athletic Association, where he was selected to the All-Canadian Team on two occasions. Brian was selected in the National Hockey League draft in 1979 by the Minnesota North Stars and played professionally in Salt Lake City, Utah before returning to law school. Although he had many achievements in hockey, he continues to be remembered for being the person responsible for Wayne Gretzky wearing the famous number "99." Brian was already wearing number "9" when Wayne arrived in the Soo; therefore, he was forced to wear a new number, and number "99" was created.

Ric brings extensive experience to assist accident victims through the dispute resolution process before the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) in both mediations and arbitrations. He brings a wealth of insurance knowledge to the firm and has played an integral role in building our accident benefit department to what it is today.
